A week in my life

what god has been teaching me- giving yourself grace

Hello friend! Welcome to the blog!

Today I want to share some fun moments from my week, practicing healthy habits, and talk about what God has been teaching me!

For the past couple of weeks, my life has been super busy! For me, a typical work week looks like this:

Sunday: Church in the morning (we just went to three services so that has been fun!), then youth in the evening (if it is the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month).

Monday: Stay at home day. Since I live 30 minutes away from town, it is more economical for me to consolidate my trips. So, I take this day to catch up on chores, school, film, and other work related things!

Tuesday: Work at Chick-fil-a in the morning, school and filming in the evening!

Wednesday: Another stay at home day.

Thursday: School, work at Chick-fil-A, then Encounter (my church’s weekly night of prayer and worship).

Friday: SABBATH!!

Saturday: Post the blog :), work at Chick-fil-A, do some school, film, clean and prepare for church on Sunday!

I know, I’m a pretty busy girl! But I love the season that God has me in right now! And even though my weeks are filled with work, I want to enjoy the life that God has blessed me with! Setting aside time for Jesus, my family and friends is CRUCIAL!

It is also very important to practice healthy habits all throughout the week! I make sure that I wake up early enough to spend time with Jesus every day! I literally can’t go on without time in the secret place; otherwise I feel off throughout the day! Next, I make sure I take care of my health! I want to steward my body well, because it says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit! I usually workout 6 days a week, and I alternate between strength, cardio, and pilates! I also LOVE making new healthy recipes that give me strength and energy for my day! Lastly, I make an effort to get adequate rest. I am trying to get better at this, because I tend to work until late, and then wake up early. Sleep is really important, and I never show up to anything well when I’ve barely slept! (Who’s with me :))

Even though I try to get all these healthy habits done, sometimes there’s just no time to fit everything in. Since school has started, I have gotten into a slump where I haven’t been working out every day. I have also been eating out more and going to bed late to get stuff done. Then I start beating myself about not taking care of my body. And if I don’t get everything done on my daily to-do list, then I really start beating myself up. (Can you relate?)

Something that the Lord has been teaching/reminding me, is giving myself GRACE! It says in 2 Corinthians 12:9

“Each time He said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

And in John 1:16-

“For from His fullness have all received, grace upon grace.”

Instead of beating myself up when I don’t get everything done, the Lord has been reminding me to receive His gift of grace! Yes we want to work hard and do a good job, but we can’t let ourselves fall into a place of striving. It says in Ephesians 2:8-9-

“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take any credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so that none of us can boast about it.”

God gives us GRACE! His mercies are new for us EVERY-DAY! (Lamentations 3:21-22) We don’t have to be perfect in order for God to love us. We aren’t saved because of the good things we do! We are going to mess up, and fall short; because we are human! Instead of working so hard every single day to get every single thing done, we need to take time to rest in His grace! We don’t have to be so hard on ourselves, and put so much pressure and expectation on. I know that in our world (especially with social media), there are so many expectations to have this education, this amount of money, these clothes, be this fit, this car, etc. We can fall into the trap of comparison and striving. Something that my mom always reminds me of, is to take the pressure off. There is no need to have everything and be this accomplished. Like it says in 2 Corinthians 12:9: it is actually GOOD to be weak, because that’s when the power of Christ can be evident in our lives! It is only by God’s grace that I am able to get anything done, and so instead of looking at the things you didn’t do or don’t have, focus on what you did accomplish! If something didn’t get done, then prioritize it the next day! Take the pressure off, and enjoy the life and the people that God has given you!

And I’m not saying be lazy. :) We DO want to be hard workers and be faithful with what the Lord has given us. But, we also need to give ourselves grace for when we mess up!

Overall, this week was amazing! I was able to spend some time in Christian community! My best friend, Ania, and I went to Yogurt Land and enjoyed some delicious frozen yogurt! My favorite combo is to get more plain/fruity flavors for the base, (like tart, coconut, and strawberry) and then load it up with fruit for the toppings! Even though this is not the healthiest, it is good to have balance! :) We need to let ourselves enjoy some fro-yo with friends every now and then! At church, we are going through the book of James right now and it is AMAZING! (This is your sign to go read James; you won’t regret it!) We also had youth group last Sunday night, and that is always so fun! We did a plank challenge, a wall sit challenge, and had a dance party during the free time! My legs felt like spaghetti at the end of everything! And I was able to get things done! Did I get everything done? No; but again, this is why I am so grateful for God’s grace!

Thank you so much for reading friend! I hope this encouraged you today! Let’s all be resting in God’s grace together this week! (I’m doing this with you!) Stay tuned for next week’s blog post! I love y’all so much, and Jesus loves you more!
